Now We Are So Happy, We Do the Dance of Joy!

There are those who would say that Perfect Strangers is an awesome show if you are inebriated.  Or 5.  While those are both valid points with which I agree, I will subject myself to ridicule here and go so far as to admit that I still love it.  As I’ve mentioned on my “About Me” page, I am a huge fan of shows that are cheesy good fun.  If there were a dictionary entry for the phrase “cheesy good fun,” it would almost certainly be accompanied by a picture of Balki Bartakamous.

5 Reasons to Watch Perfect Strangers

1. The Dance of Joy: This may not be hilarious if you are not, as I mentioned above, either inebriated or 5 years old.  But how can this not at least bring a smile to your face?  If it doesn’t, then you clearly have no soul.

2. The Romance: Because if Cousin Larry and Balki can get girlfriends, it gives hope to uptight nerds and lovable doofuses everywhere.

3. The Drama: As you can see, Balki is trying to murder Cousin Larry.  And you thought it was just a sitcom.

4. The Spinoff: Perfect Strangers deserves some recognition for launching another awesomely cheesy sitcom: Family Matters.

5. The Nostalgia: Surely there are many other children of the 80’s for whom this show brings back some great childhood memories.

It’s a crying shame that only seasons 1 and 2 are available on DVD.

They're probably friends of Jimmy Fallon.
